Silkscreen
The Europäische Akademie Otzenhausen owns a series of three silkscreens in a limited edition by Farouk Shehata, each called "Trees", created in 1977 and 1986 (two works). In various colour nuances and compositions, they underline how masterfully Shehata has handled the printing technique. All three silkscreens remained at the academy in autumn 1986, where he showed the exhibition "German and Egyptian Landscapes" (prints and paintings).

Farouk Shehata (*1938 in Alexandria, Egypt) is regarded as one of the pioneers of printmaking, whose diverse applications are reflected in his work. He is one of Egypt's most famous artists, who now lives and works in his native city of Alexandria. His work is influenced by the ancient culture of Egypt and the Arab world as well as by numerous stays abroad and modern European art. Artistic intuition, craftsmanship and precision characterize his work. He received his doctorate at the Academy of Art in Nuremberg and worked as a professor in Düsseldorf, Nuremberg and Alexandria. Activities as a consultant in the fields of art, culture, information and tourism in Egypt, among others, show his drive and versatility in equal measure, as do the over 80 exhibitions of contemporary Egyptian art that he showed internationally between 1975 and 1994.
