The European Academy of Otzenhausen, community of Nonnweiler, is located in the St. Wendel region at the heart of the European model region SaarLorLux and near the European capitals of Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Brussels.

Take the train to Türkismühle railway station. From there you can either take bus no. R200 (bus stop "Europäische Akademie") or a taxi to reach the Academy.

The Academy is located approximately 10 km from Türkismühle railway station. If you come from the north or the east, use the railway connection via Mainz, from the south and west via Saarbrücken. If you come from Trier or Hermeskeil, you can reach the Academy by bus no. R200 without having to change buses.

Excursion destinations near and far

Your conference and meeting centre is situated in an Eldorado for hiking enthusiasts. Hiking trails such as the Traumschleifen circular trails, the Cerda & Celtoi Celtic sculpture trail or the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig long-distance trail invite you to discover nature in a relaxing setting.

The close vicinity features the picturesque Nonnweiler reservoir and the Celtic circular wall of Otzenhausen. The Peterberg leisure centre with its 1000-metre summer bobsleigh track also offers activities and leisure fun.

In the community of Nonnweiler you will find a swimming pool and a sauna ("Hochwaldbad") open year-round. In summer, the Primstal outdoor swimming pool or nearby Bostal lake invite you to take a plunge.

You can reach Saarland's capital of Saarbrücken by car in 30 minutes. A touch of French flair characterizes the city with its many shopping and nightlife possibilities.

In 30 minutes, you can also reach Trier, Germany's oldest city. Set out to discover its Roman roots or just enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the Moselle city.

Nonnweiler

Nonnweiler is an attractive community and hosts the following tourist attractions that also attract visitors from outside the region: Peterberg Summer Bobsleigh Track  in Braunshausen, Nonnweiler reservoir  and the Celtic circular wall of Otzenhausen. All eight community districts are located in the Saar-Hunsrück nature park. The mountains and mountain ranges of the community of Nonnweiler are among Saarland's highest elevations. The Hunsrück-Hochwald national park was opened with an official ceremony on the day of Pentecost 2015.

In our side-event programme, we also offer excursions to the nearby vineyards near Trier that culminate with a wine tasting.
